About :

  • This stamp Commemorates the coming of age of a National Institution of which the nation may well be proud of. Founded only 25 years ago it has blossomed into a fine institution comparable to any sister institution in the West. It symbolises the nation’s determination to become self reliant and self sufficient without compromising standards. With humble beginnings and a limited mandate of functioning as an examining body in 1962 it now wears the mantle of a fine teaching and research institutions as well. Short courses in basic sciences are organised, teaching and evaluation strategies are taught. International workshops are held on new modalities and technologies through the help of experts in the field and innovative self learning schemes are operative. The College now oversees and examines in 20 different specialities and has produced 2484 senior and junior specialists of whom there are 600 Fellows. They adorn important teaching and consultant appointments both at home and abroad. The college is autonomous, is run by an elected Council and the Councillors have worked hard with zeal and enthusiasm towards its progress. It was striven to maintain the highest standard and has earned acknowledgement and reciprocity from the Royal Colleges in the U.K. The stamp symbolises the blossoming of a tree and the fulfilment of a national dream.
