A distinguished  politician, journalist, as well as an eminent orator. one of the three famous patriots, known as the triumvirate of Lal Bal Pal. He was the editor of the “Democrat, the “Independent” and many other journals & newspapers. He published a biography of Queen Victoria in Bangla. He was also a member of the Brahmo Samaj & believed in the equality of men and women. Encouraged widow marriages and female education as well.
