  • Dhanwantari, the health-giver to all living beings is honoured as the founder of the ancient Ayurvedic system of medicine. According to the Purana, he came into being on the thirteenth of the first half of the lunar month Kartik as a result of the churning of ocean to start a new cycle of creation. Regarded as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, this day is considered to be the right occasion to wish all human beings long life and good health. In Nepal, Dhanwantari‘s birth anniversary is celebrated as “Health Day” dedicated to the welfare of all living beings.
