মুক্তিযুদ্ধের গৌরবোজ্জ্বল ইতিহাসের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন এবং “মহান স্বাধীনতা ও জাতীয় দিবস ২০১৫” এর ৪৪ বছর পূর্তির এই শুভক্ষণকে স্মরণীয় করে রাখার জন্য বাংলাদেশ ডাক বিভাগ ১০/- (দশ) টাকা মূল্যমানের একটি স্মারক ডাক টিকিট, ১০/- (দশ) টাকা মূল্যমানের একটি উদ্বোধনী খাম, ৫/- (পাঁচ) টাকা মূল্যমানের একটি ডাটাকার্ড ও একটি বিশেষ সীলমোহর প্রকাশ করেছে।

- Today is 26 March, the greatest day of Independence and National Day of our nation. It’s a red letter day in our history. This day is memorable for its glorious history of standing against the despotic, repressive and exploiting rule of the then Pakistan. In the face of mass uprising in 1969 under the leadership Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the then Pakistani authority was compelled to declare national election in 1970. In the said national election Bangabandhu led Awami League won absolute majority. In spite of the fact of absolute majority won by Awami League, Pakistani authority started making pretext in handing over power. On the contrary, at the dead of night of March 25, 1971 they swooped on the innocent, armless Bangalese. The cowardice and barbaric attack of occupying forces made the nation outraged. On the March 26, 1971 Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the war of liberation. The war of liberation began and made the history of nine month long sanguinary struggle for independence. Determination of the nation of translating the pangs of life into strength and of holy sacrifice of millions of martyrs ultimately made the occupying forces compelled to surrender to the joint forces, consisting of Mukti Bahine and Indian Army. And finally the sovereign state Bangladesh emerged on December 16, 1971. Since then, every year, the nation observes March 26 as the day of independence with due respect and solemnity.
- আজ ২৬ শে মার্চ, মহান স্বাধীনতা ও জাতীয় দিবস ২০১৫। বাঙ্গালী জাতির জীবনে এক গৌরবোজ্জ্বল দিন। তদানীন্তন পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানী স্বৈরাচার, নিপীড়ক, শোষক, হানাদারদের বিরুদ্ধে রুখে দাঁড়াবার দিন। জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের নেতৃত্বে বাঙ্গালী জাতির ১৯৬৯ এর গণঅভ্যূত্থানের জনরোষে পাকিস্তানী কর্তৃপক্ষ পিছু হটতে বাধ্য হয়ে ১৯৭০ সনে জাতীয় নির্বাচন ঘোষণা করে। নির্বাচনে বঙ্গবন্ধুর নেতৃত্বে আওয়ামী লীগ নিরঙ্কুশ সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠতা অর্জন করে। নিরঙ্কুশ সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠতা অর্জন সত্বেও পাকিস্তানী কর্তৃপক্ষ ক্ষমতা হস্তান্তরে টালবাহানা শুরু করে এবং ১৯৭১ এর ২৫ শে মার্চ রাত্রে নিরস্ত্র বাঙ্গালীর উপর অতর্কিতে বর্বরোচিতভাবে হামলা চালায়। ক্ষোভে, বঞ্চনায়, বঙ্গবন্ধুর বলিষ্ঠ নেতৃত্বে ফুঁসে উঠে সমগ্র জাতি। ১৯৭১ সালের ২৬ শে মার্চ জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের স্বাধীনতা ঘোষণা মধ্য দিয়ে শুরু হয় স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধের। দীর্ঘ নয় মাসব্যাপী রক্তক্ষয়ী সংগ্রামের মধ্য দিয়ে অবর্ণনীয় কষ্টকে শক্তিতে রুপান্তর করার দৃঢ় প্রত্যয় নিয়ে এবং সর্বোপরি হানাদার বাহিনীকে ১৯৭১ এর ১৬ ডিসেম্বর মুক্তিবাহিনী ও ভারতীয় সৈন্যদের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত যৌথ বাহিনীর কাছে আত্মসমর্পণে বাধ্য করে অর্জিত হয় স্বাধীন সার্বভৌম রাষ্ট্র বাংলাদেশ। বিজয় অর্জনের পর থেকে প্রতিবছর ২৬শে মার্চ কে মহান স্বাধীনতা ও জাতীয় দিবস হিসেবে যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় ভাবগাম্ভীর্যের সাথে পালন করা হয়।
